Get Involved Today!
Timber Lakes PTA has many opportunities for parents to get involved in many activities. Whatever your interest or talent, you will undoubtedly find a way to use them in some aspect through the PTA’s volunteer opportunities. We believe the education of children is a joint responsibility. Good communication and collaboration between our schools and parents, families, and the community are essential to improved student achievement. Please get involved in the Ketchup Club, Grandparent’s Day, Fall Festival, and our multitude of other activities.
Also, please remember that each school year you must register with ADDitions to volunteer for any school/PTA activity. Click the button below to be redirected to the ADDitions Volunteer application. There will be an ADDitions Volunteer Orientation offered each fall, and all parents are encouraged to attend this short, one-time gathering.ADDitions Volunteer Application
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are the designated days for parents to have lunch with their children. Parents are not allowed to have lunch at the school on Tuesday and Thursday unless there is a school event in which their child is participating in or you are Volunteering for Ketchup Club.
It is imperative that the school be aware of All Visitors visiting the campus, there are no exceptions to this rule. Therefore, all visitor and volunteers are required to sign-in & sign out of the school using the computers in the front office upon entry and exit. Depending on the nature of your visit, you will sign in and out using at different computer stations in the front office.
If VOLUNTEERING off campus, you must still record your hours through OCPS. The volunteer check-in/out program is designed to track volunteers’ locations on campus/off campus and their time volunteered. Timber Lakes submits hourly totals on a regular basis to OCPS. Become a Room Parent!
As a room parent, you will be working with the teacher to co-plan all of the events for the school year. The teacher must approve all classroom activities. Get in contact with your teacher to determine the best means of communication (for example: email or hard copy notes/reminders) so that you can discuss upcoming classroom events in a timely manner. Try to involve as many parents as you can in the classroom activities. It makes things more fun, allow other parents to participate in their child’s education, and will make your job a lot easier.
Communication via email will enable you to notify classroom parents of upcoming activities more efficiently. The PTA Room Parent Coordinator will inform the room parents of “Teacher Appreciation Week” dates well in advance (in the spring), along with the specific events throughout the week. All classes are encouraged to participate in these events to honor the teachers. Families may also want to voluntarily show their appreciation individually.
